Bachelor of Science in Psychology

The four-year full-time BS Psychology degree program is offered by the department of Management and Social Sciences. The BS Psychology program integrates the scientific foundation of Psychology with a strong background of humanities and basic sciences in order to prepare students for the advanced training in psychology. This program is designed to familiarize students with theoretical concepts of the emerging field of Psychology, while providing an exposure to its real-world applications. It enables students to understand the psychological factors of various issues and aspects prevailing in the society. This program also provides a baseline for many students who want to pursue higher studies in the field of Psychology. The core focus of this course is on the ways information is received, perceived, filtered, stored, retrieved, conveyed and provide an understanding of the mental processes through which information is acquired, processed and carried. Major topics of this course includes neural basis of cognition, attention, perception, perceptual laws of organization, memory, iconic and echoic memory, recall vs cognition, thinking and problem solving, deductive and inductive reasoning.
