We are delighted to report the successful conduct of an interactive seminar under the Climate Leaders Program, hosted on June 19, 2025, at Abasyn University Islamabad Campus. The seminar was part of an ongoing initiative to cultivate environmental awareness and leadership among youth, encouraging them to play an active role in addressing climate change and sustainability challenges.

🎓 Distinguished Guests and Opening Remarks:

The event commenced with a warm welcome by Prof. Dr. Bashir Khan, Head of Campus, who highlighted the university’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, climate education, and community engagement. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the importance of youth-led climate action and praised the efforts of organizations like the Institute of Rural Management (IRM) in empowering the next generation of change-makers.

We were honored to host two key representatives from the Institute of Rural Management (IRM):

  • Mr. Ali Haider, Project Manager, and

  • Ms. Noor Fatima, District Coordinator.

Both guests delivered engaging and thought-provoking sessions, sharing real-world insights on climate resilience, environmental leadership, and the role of local communities in tackling climate-related issues. Their presentations covered topics such as sustainable development, youth engagement, climate advocacy, and the importance of grassroots initiatives in achieving climate goals.

💬 Interactive Sessions and Student Engagement:

The seminar featured an open dialogue session where students from various departments actively participated by asking questions, sharing ideas, and proposing local solutions for environmental challenges. Group discussions, case study reviews, and a short quiz on climate knowledge were also part of the seminar, making it a highly engaging and informative experience.

The event served as a platform for:

  • Educating students on climate science and policy

  • Encouraging community-based environmental initiatives

  • Promoting student-led climate action projects

🌱 Outcome and Acknowledgment:

The seminar successfully raised awareness and sparked enthusiasm among students to pursue sustainability efforts on and off campus. Several students expressed interest in joining IRM-led climate action programs and proposed starting a "Green Club" on campus to lead future environmental campaigns.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the IRM team, the Department of Environmental Sciences, organizing faculty, student volunteers, and all attendees for their valuable contributions. Their collective effort ensured the seminar’s success and further solidified Abasyn University's commitment to climate leadership and education.
